Services & Techniques

At Westford Family Chiropractic, we take great pride in providing the finest chiropractic wellness care to our patients. Below is a sampling of the different chiropractic services we offer in our Westford office.

Chiropractic Care

We provide advanced spinal correction utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic have we been able to provide the level of help and expertise that now exists. These newer correction methods are even safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. As a Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Richard Leigh has years of training and experience in spinal adjustment.

Corrective Exercises

We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.

Lifestyle Advice

We often find it helpful to "coach" our patients on certain activities they should avoid or do differently to avoid aggravating their particular health challenge. Our goal is to help every patient achieve a fulfilling and happy lifestyle full of the activities they enjoy most. We recognize that each our patient is a whole person, and help them reach true health and wellness is a collaborate effort between our professionals and our patients.

Nutritional Counseling

We provide specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices to enhance our patient´s return to optimal health. Do you know which supplements and vitamins are good for you? Do you know how these supplements and vitamins interact with one another? Dr. Richard Leigh can provide a structured nutritional program based on your individual needs.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy offers a natural conservative treatment approach that relieves musculoskeletal pain for many patients. Our office provides specific massage and muscular therapy that is tailored to meet the patient's condition and injury. The benefits of massage therapy may include increasing blood circulation, reducing swelling, relaxing muscles, relieving muscle pain and spasms, and aid in recovery and range of motion.

Spinal & Postural Screenings

Posture and spinal screenings can reveal important health information and unlock the door to improved health and well-being. We provide screenings at area malls, community events, health fairs and places of employment. Contact us today to arrange a screening at your event or workplace.

Spinal Decompression Therapy

.

A specialized table and computer control unit apply a precise , distractive tension or "pull" along the axis of the spine.  This distractive tension, with specialized positioning of the body, gently unloads and seperates the targeted bones of the back.  By removing compressive forces, this equipment effectively "decompresses" the targeted area of the spine.  Decompression therapy actually creates a negative pressure within the intervertebral disc.  Research suggests that this negative pressure may actually draw this prolapsed disc material back into the disc.  Also, this negative pressure allows previously compressed discs  to receive fluids and nutrients that it was starved of.  Some experts feel that this improved disc environment stimulates specialized cells called fibroblasts to repair damaged fibers in a degenerated disc.  Pressure on nerve roots is decreased and the nerves are then able to heal, resulting in a reduction in pain.

Custom Shoe Orthotics

The feet are the shock absorbers of the body and these also assist assist in the balance of the body by keeping the pelvis level.  In the old song, the …"your foot bone's connected to the leg bone, your leg bone's connected to the hip bone" (and so on). By age 20, 80% of people develop some type of foot imbalance. By age 40, foot imbalances plague virtually everyone.  At Westford Family Chiropractic, we keep in mind that foot problems directly affect the spine and the health of the foot is vital to the health of the spine.  We use Foot Levelers, Inc. orthotics because these are custom made for the patient with both the feet and the spinal health being a primary concern.  Foot Levelers is a company started by chiroprators, for chiropractic patients.  At Westford Family Chiropractic, custom made orthotics can be obtained in approximately 5 days.  We offer a Free scan and report just for asking!

Reviews By Our Satisfied Patients

  • "I have known Dr. Leigh from being one of his first 60+ patients. He has grown his business by leaps and bounds since then. My having moved away for 13 yrs., I am impressed with an occasional visit how incredibly knowledgeable Dr. Leigh is no matter what the medical issue is pertaining to the spine, cervical vertebrae, bones in other areas especially resulting from traumas to the body. I can pick Dr. Leigh's brain and he's always spot on with an answer. Kirstin is a wonderful asset with her proficiency in making appts., insurance info, etc. and pleasant manner with patients."
